5 books to re-read

I rearly read a book twice, for two reasons: 1. I like not knowing how a book ends. 2. I don’t like the idea of reading a book that I can’t add to my books-I’ve-read-list. The latter is an ego thing, as I like to brag about the books I’ve read ;)

Still, there are some books that I wouldn’t mind reading again. Here are some of them.

  1. The Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas, fils. Because this is my ultimate favorite book. It touched me in so many ways. And even though I knew approximately how it wound end, as both the movie Moulin Rouge and the opera La Traviata is based on the book, I still got surprised at the end, and actually cried (true story). I know I will read this book again some time.
  2. Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. I read Shantaram 8 or 9 years ago and I simply loved it. It was so exciting, it was well written and it let me have a sneak peek at a culture I didn’t know anything about. The fact that it is based on true events made it even better. I’ve read that someone is working on making this book into a movie, and I am planning on reading it again before I see that movie.
  3. Honningtunger (Honey Tongues) by Helene Uri. This was the book that made me love reading in the first place. As I didn’t read much during my teens, I needed a spark to get me to read again as an adult. I read this book almost 10 years ago and I just loved it. It would be exciting to read it again to see if it is as good as I remember.
  4. American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. This book is so creepy that I skipped some parts when I read it. So, I would like to read it again and this time read all of it.
  5. Et dukkehjem (A Doll’s House) by Henrik Ibsen. Like all other Norwegians, I too had to read this in school as a child. And because I was forced to read it, I hated it – of course. But I remember the story very well and I believe I would really enjoy this book now, 15-20 years later.

I don’t re-read books anymore. There are a few that I have re-read way before I was a blogger. I would love to read those again with my book blogger eyes today. But who has time for that? I do like to add books to my «read» list as well.
    Great post!

Ohhh I agree with not being able to put it on our list of read books! It feels like a waste to read something and not put in on my goodreads account! Hahaha but I love re-reading so much <3 I re-read books all the time to the point where I memorize most of the lines :P re-reading also gives me a change of heart, mostly. There are books that I feel indifferent with for the first time but when I re-read them, I turn out love them MORE and they become my favorites! Nice post :D

Thank you :) I wish I was more of a re-reader, like you say, being able to read a book again and again and almost memorize it. But, life’s to short ;)
